Job Description

The Public Relations (PR) Coordinator supports the PR team by assisting in the execution of various PR initiatives and campaigns. They play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the PR department, handling administrative tasks, and facilitating communication between the department, divisions, practices and other stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

Administrative SupportProvide administrative support to the PR team, including scheduling meetings, maintaining contact lists, and organizing files.Handle correspondence, phone calls, and emails related to PR activities.Content CreationAssist in drafting and editing press releases, media alerts, internal news stories, social media, and other content in collaboration with the PR Writer.Ensure all content aligns with the organization's brand voice and messaging.Media RelationsCurate and maintain a media contact database in collaboration with the Media Relations Specialist.Assist in distributing press releases and other media materials to journalists and media outlets at the direction of the Media Relations Specialist.Track media coverage and compile media clippings for reports.Research and AnalysisConduct research to support PR campaigns, including gathering information on industry trends, competitors, and target audiences.Monitor media coverage and compile reports on PR campaign performance and media sentiment.Digital & Social Media ManagementAssist in managing the organization's Media-facing social media accounts by scheduling posts, responding to comments, and engaging with followers.Monitor social media trends and provide recommendations for content and engagement strategies.Collaborate with Digital Team to audit website for broken links, departed team members, updating evergreen content. Internal CommunicationSupport internal communication efforts by preparing and sharing news stories with the Intranet team.Insure team members are informed about PR activities and key messages.Vendor CoordinationLiaise with external vendors, such as graphic designers, printers, and event coordinators, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Pursuing a BS, BA or BJ in communication, public relations or journalism. 

Essential Skills

Writing & EditingExceptional writing and editing skills. Strong command of grammar, punctuation and AP style.Relationship BuildingStrong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with media contacts, vendors, and internal team members. CommunicationExcellent written and verbal communication. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in all tasks. Social Media SaavyUnderstanding of social media platforms and best practices for engagement.Ability to create and schedule social media content effectively.Creative Thinking & Social AwarenessAbility to contribute to the development of fresh ideas and story innovations to improve campaigns and performance. Active participant in consuming media – the ability to identify new and emerging stories, ideas and approaches for future consideration. Research SkillsAbility to conduct thorough research and synthesize information from various sources. Competence in gathering and analyzing media coverage and PR metrics.Technical ProficiencyProficiency in use of office software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with PR planning and monitoring software Cision and Asana project management software.AdaptabilityFlexibility to handle changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Organizational SkillsStrong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.Attention to DetailMeticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all communications and materials.Ability to proofread and edit content thoroughly.Time ManagementStrong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.Industry KnowledgeUnderstanding our industry, market trends, and competitive landscape.Awareness of standard media practices and public relations principles.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $25 per hour. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
