Public Relations Manager
Description We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Public Relations Manager to join our team in Houston. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in public relations within the legal industry or other professional services. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic media and communication initiatives that enhance the firm’s reputation, increase visibility, and position our professionals as thought leaders in key markets and practice areas. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with both U.S.-based and international teams to deliver cohesive messaging for a leading professional services organization. Key Responsibilities: + Strategic Media Relations: Develop and implement PR strategies designed to raise the firm’s profile across key sectors, including but not limited to corporate, energy, technology, and intellectual property practices. + Media Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with national, regional, and trade journalists within top-tier legal, business, and related industry publications. Proactively identify and pitch compelling storylines, client matters, and firm developments. + Content Development: Draft press releases, media pitches, talking points, deal announcements, and thought leadership pieces to engage audiences and ensure consistent messaging. + Reputation Management: Monitor media trends and industry news to identify opportunities and risks. Develop rapid-response strategies for emerging issues to position the firm positively. + Internal Support for Leadership & Attorneys: Prepare attorneys and firm leadership for media interviews, speaking engagements, and panel discussions, ensuring accurate and engaging representation of the firm. + Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing, business development, and practice group leaders to ensure seamless integration of PR efforts with overall business strategies. + Media Reporting & Metrics: Measure the impact of public relations campaigns and provide regular reports on media coverage, key performance indicators, and general PR effectiveness. + Vendor Oversight: Manage relationships with external PR consultants or agencies to ensure high-quality deliverables and alignment with the firm’s goals. Requirements Qualifications: + A minimum of 7 years of experience in public relations, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in law firms, professional services, or related industries. + Established relationships with journalists and media influencers in the legal, business, energy, and technology sectors. + Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced professional environment. + Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience drafting press releases, pitches, and thought leadership content. + Strong analytical skills to monitor news trends and evaluate PR metrics. + Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or a related field.
