Public Safety Dispatch Shift Manager

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Responsible for overseeing all responsibilities of the dispatch department and employees.  Help dispatch calls for Tribal Police, Tribal Security and Tribal EMS. You will report to the Dispatch Supervisor.

Primary Tasks:

1.       You will handle multiple tasks at one time.

2.       Handle stressful situations.

3.       Answer incoming calls both on phone lines and radio communications simultaneously.

4.       Have the knowledge of customer service techniques and concepts.

5.       You will maintain dispatch logs of Tribal Police, Security and EMS on the assigned computer program.

6.       Assist with scheduling needs of the dispatchers.

7.       Ensure the Dispatchers on shift are performing their jobs correctly.

8.       Give and receive instructions.

9.       Assist with Supervisory responsibilities for OLETS.

10.      You will perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

·        High school diploma or GED required.

·        Must be at least 18 years of age.

·        Able to maintain OLETS and TAPS certification

·        Knowledge of personal computers and basic computer functions

·        Knowledge of communications equipment and proper terminology of radio.

·        Full working knowledge of CAD/Dispatch Software and OLETS Terminal

·        Displays the ability to reason and react calmly and quickly in an emergency.

·        Proper judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

·        Exhibits strong interpersonal skills, multitasking ability, and time management skills.

·        Communicate with groups and individuals both orally and in writing.

·        Must have knowledge of and ability to work with appropriate hardware and software applications.

·        Two (2) years’ prior dispatching experience.
