Overview The Public Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing programs designed to ensure the safety of the public living and working around utility-owned electrical and gas facilities. This includes promoting and achieving safety awareness among key stakeholders such as schools, first responders, contractors, and community members. The role involves developing new safety programs and overseeing existing ones like the High Voltage training demonstration, Mini-City, and PowerPoint presentations to educate about electricity and natural gas safety. The specialist also performs various investigations for electric, and gas events as needed, in support of LG&E / KU claims group. \#LGE&KU \#INDLGE Responsibilities + Develop and maintain a strategic plan for achieving public safety education goals in collaboration with the Manager - Public Safety.Lead the company’s public safety image from an educational and community relations perspective.Proactively seek opportunities to promote public safety awareness among key stakeholders and oversee all third-party communication outreach and contracts. + Deliver electrical education programs (e.g., High Voltage demonstrations, lectures, seminars) and mass communications to the public, fire departments, police, contractors, municipal and government officials, schools, and customers across the LGE/KU footprint, which may require working after hours.
