This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage. DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility - Public Outreach HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm LOCATION: 3000 Arctic Boulevard ** Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range. ** Example of Duties Under the general direction of the Public Outreach Coordinator, this internship involves public outreach and public information. It falls within the pre-entrance class series, during which the incumbent accomplishes assigned tasks while developing specific technical, professional, or managerial skills in an approved internship program. The work is performed under close supervision. Positions within this classification are established to provide incumbents with training and job skills at a technical, professional, or managerial level, all under immediate supervision while being employed by AWWU. While accomplishing assigned tasks and undergoing on-the-job training and orientation, an incumbent develops knowledge of public outreach, utility operations, organizations and prepares to qualify for employment in targeted positions within an occupational area. Perform other required duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and enrollment in years three (3) or four (4) of a four-year degree program at an accredited college or university. OR High school diploma, GED or equivalent, and enrollment in a two (2) year certified vocational/technical program or an apprenticeship program from an industry recognized institution in the assigned occupational field, and one (1) year of experience. Must possess and/or obtain: + Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record. + Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
