Publicity Assistant - Ballantine - Random House(Hybrid)

We are currently seeking a Publicity Assistant to join the Random House Group publicity team and support the Director of Publicity and Deputy Director of Publicity on campaigns for media-driven fiction and nonfiction books across the Ballantine Group imprints, including Ballantine, Bantam, Dell, and Delacorte.

 

This position provides an intensive education in trade book publishing in a fast-paced, exciting, and highly collaborative environment. The Publicity Assistant role is the ideal position for a curious, confident, self-motivated person who loves books across genres, understands and consumes media, and is interested in learning how to execute publicity strategy.

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

 

Responsibilities include: 

 

Assistance in creating and executing high-impact publicity campaigns for top titles spanning genres such as commercial fiction, mystery/thriller/suspense, rom-com/romantasy, literary fiction, narrative nonfiction and celebrity.  Tasks include writing pitch materials, pulling media lists, and researching media targets as well as: 

Assisting senior publicity staff with high profile media campaigns for bestselling authors  Communicating with media, booksellers, in-house colleagues, authors and agents  Pitching media and bookstores  Creating and managing details in author itineraries  Updating internal documents and systems  Coordinating mailings, publicity materials, and review copy requests  Organizing travel and hotel logistics for author tours and special events  Processing invoices, maintaining title budgets for supervisors’ campaigns, and helping with data entry related to campaigns.  Performing online research to acquire publicity contacts and updating media lists.  Additional assignments, projects and responsibilities, as needed

Strong interest in book publishing, publicity and media relations, and in books across genres   Excellent written and verbal communication skills  Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills  Ability to juggle priorities in a deadlines-driven, fast-paced environment  Ability to work in a collaborative team environment  Self-starter who takes initiative and wants to learn and grow  Proficiency with social media, internet research, and Microsoft Office Suite 

 

The salary for this position is $51,000.  All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
