POSITION SUMMARY
The Continuous Improvement Intern will assist and advise plant leadership on the creation of Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs) in cooperation with Continuous Improvement Manager.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Partner with plant leadership on creating SOPs including recommendations on best practices focusing on creation of SOPs based on leadership instruction Conduct time studies of operations to increase efficiencies and reduce downtime and waste Use data analysis to develop metrics such as downtime, motion, travel, and pieces per hour  Support leadership with 5S projects Other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma, GED or equivalent Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or continuous improvement
 

License/Certifications

Valid Drivers License preferred


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’s)

Exceptional proficiency in written and verbal communication Experience working in the food manufacturing environment Basic knowledge of industrial engineering and lean manufacturing practices Experience in developing SOPs and Flow Charts Knowledge in SharePoint and Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Excel and Word

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Usual office and/or plant environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and/or balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office and/or plant machinery/equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone. Noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office/plant levels to loud levels due to equipment and/or machinery use.
