POSITION SUMMARY

Oversees packaging workers in all aspects of filling, capping, torqueing, and labeling of products

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Supervise and schedule packaging team leads; coordinates activities of packers; give direction to all packaging staff or any other area of responsibility assigned and routinely check on stages of packaging  Set up and program machine ensure equipment is maintained and running adequately Train packaging room staff including proper packing methods, cross training, safety procedures and documentation of packaging and metal detection  Collect and label product samples and submit to lab personnel for analysis; complete departmental reports  Coordinate with other production personnel to ensure that sufficient product is produced to fill customer orders in a timely manner  Load materials and/or products into package processing equipment; record product(s)  Examine and inspect materials and/or products to ensure that packing specifications are met  Measure, weigh, and count products and/or materials; mark and label containers, container tags, or products  Remove completed or defective products and/or materials; placing products/materials on equipment including but not limited to conveyors and loading docks.  Obtain, move, and sort products, materials, and orders, using hand tools; order information on specified forms and record  Ensure packaging is occurring in a timely manner to coincide with permitted hours for completion; alert of any potential conflicts that jeopardize on time shipments.  Submit requests for service and maintenance of department equipment to the Maintenance Department; verify completion of maintenance  Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HS Diploma, GED or equivalent One (1) year packaging experience One (1) year leadership experience Ability to become forklift/pallet jack certified Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently and within a team environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years packaging experience Two (2) years leadership experience Experience with GMP’s, HACCP and OSHA WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd shifts. Ability to work in temperature conditions between 35 and 95 degrees; may occasionally exceed 95 degrees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers in a repetitive motion. Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach above the head. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is required to lift a minimum of ten (10) lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office levels to loud factory / warehouse levels.
