The SQF Practitioner Administrator at Los Altos Foods is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations (FDA, CDFA, IMS, and SQF). This role will also serve as a backup to the QA Manager and act as the primary SQF practitioner. The role involves overseeing regulatory compliance, implementing quality assurance processes, and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality within the production plant. A strong understanding of regulatory requirements, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are essential for success in this role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsible for ensuring compliance with SQF, FDA, and CDFA codes at Los Altos Foods through diligent monitoring and comprehensive review of all aspects of the SQF program as well as state and federal regulations. Primary SQF Practitioner Assist the QA manager in overseeing daily lab operations, including leading and supervising the quality assurance team. Implement quality control objectives; coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize quality and reliability and to minimize costs. Oversee the New Employee Training program in regard to SQF and GMP training. Oversee Hold, Rework, and Animal Feed tag program, including following up with non-conformances related to both physical chemical and micro results. Oversee the lab and culture inventory program. Cover QA manager's task where applicable in QA manager's absence, ensuring that all quality assurance responsibilities are fulfilled. Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology or related science. 3+ years of experience in a quality laboratory environment within the food and beverage industry. Knowledgeable in food chemistry, food microbiology, HACCP, SQF, CCPs, GMPs, and Food processing equipment. Food testing concepts. Read and process written information with a high degree of accuracy. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
License/Certifications
SQF Certification PCQI Certification HACCP CertificationPreferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English and Spanish. 2+ years within the dairy experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’s)
Knowledge – Knowledge of HAACP standards, GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, CCPs, lab equipment, food processing, result in depth analysis. Skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Report writing, Troubleshooting, Root cause analysis, lab equipment calibration. Ability – Multitask, work in a demanding environment, communicate well ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS Will be exposed to refrigerated rooms under 45 F. Some areas within production are loud. May stand for extended periods of time.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift to 35 lbs. Ability to walk throughout the plant. Ability to climb up and down stairs.
COMPENSATION
61,916 - $77,401 annual salary, depending on geography, skills, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
