Pulmonary Function Tech - Pulmonary Function - Per Diem
Position Summary: Perform diagnostic lung tests and blood gas analysis. To train and supervise respiratory therapy students assigned to the Blood Gas and Pulmonary Function Laboratory. Demonstrate knowledge or principles of growth and development and the skills necessary to provide care for patients in the adult, adolescent, pediatric and geriatric age groups. Education, License & Cert: Registered Respiratory Therapist, a Certified Respiratory Therapist with A.S. or an A.A.S. degree from a COARC accredited program preferred or an LPN with at least 2 years of clinical experience accepted. Certification by National Board of Respiratory Care in Pulmonary Function Testing within two years of onset of employment is preferred. The candidate must be licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. Experience: Prefer at least one year of intensive and general care as a respiratory therapist or 2 years clinical experience as an LPN. Will require orientation for blood gas procurement, analysis, and general orientation to the Robert Packer Hospital. Essential Functions: 1.Performs all phases of Cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing in accordance with ATS and CLIA 88 Standards. 2. Effectively recognizes equipment functionality status and appropriately troubleshoots said equipment. 3. Provides clinical instruction to Respiratory Therapy students according to provided objectives. 4. Performs quality control procedures and documents results appropriately. 5. Performs patient registration as necessary. 6. Authorized to access medications and storage areas in the performance of essential job functions and duties. Rotates to cover the respiratory therapy department as needed, depending on staffing and patient volume. Other Duties: 1. Enters, edits and prints blood gas data. 2. Assures reports and data are transferred into Epic. 3. Collects data from daily activities in the Pulmonary lab and prepares charge tickets. 4.
