Position Summary:

 

The Pulmonary Function Technician, guided by the State of Idaho Respiratory Care Act, functions as a member of the health care team performing respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients of all age groups with a variety of medical diagnoses.

     

Responsibilities:

 
These procedures include, but are not limited to, the performance of Pulmonary Functions tests, Metabolic tests, Exercise Stress tests, and the administration of medical gases, aerosols, and pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care, and diagnostic testing
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

       

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

 
Graduate of a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program
Credentialed as an RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) required
Credential as CPFT or RPFT preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred
2 years’ direct bedside experience as a licensed respiratory therapist preferred
Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Idaho required
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation          
Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire
Ability to communicate well and technical skills to adapt equipment and procedures
Good customer relations, assessment, and communication skills are necessary for this job

       

Working Conditions:

 
Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs
Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
Typical equipment used in an office job
Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
