Pulmonary Functions Tech     

 

Position Summary
The Pulmonary Function Technician, guided by the State of Idaho Respiratory Care Act, functions as a member of the health care team performing respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients of all age groups with a variety of medical diagnoses.

 

Responsibilities
•    These procedures include, but are not limited to, the performance of Pulmonary Functions tests, Metabolic tests, Exercise Stress tests, and the administration of medical gases, aerosols, and pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care, and diagnostic testing
•    Performs other related duties as assigned
•    Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field 
•    Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
•    Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

 

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
•    Graduate of a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program
•    Credentialed as an RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) required
•    Credential as CPFT or RPFT preferred
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred
•    2 years’ direct bedside experience as a licensed respiratory therapist preferred
•    Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Idaho required
•    BLS required
•    ACLS required within 6 months of hire
•    Ability to communicate well and technical skills to adapt equipment and procedures
•    Good customer relations, assessment, and communication skills are necessary for this job

Kootenai Clinic Lung and Asthma provides comprehensive care for patients with a variety of pulmonary problems, including, but not limited to:

Asthma, Bronchiectasis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Lung Cancer, Pneumonia, Pulmonary Fibrosis, and Sarcoidosis

We offer in-house comprehensive Pulmonary Function testing and works closely can arrange for state-of-the-art diagnostic services including CT scans, PET scans, bronchoscopy, and polysomnography (sleep studies). We have established relationships with a variety of other medical providers in the region who are important to the care of patients with pulmonary problems including cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and oncologists.
