What will you be doing in this role?
The Pulmonary Technician is a health care profession employed under the supervision of a physician in the therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities which affect the pulmonary system and associated aspects of cardiopulmonary and other systems functions.
Provides direct and indirect pulmonary care services that are safe, aseptic, preventive, and restorative to the patient
Provides direct and indirect respiratory care services, including but not limited to, the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement a treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative or diagnostic regimen prescribed by a physician.
Observes and monitors signs and symptoms, general behavior, general physical response to respiratory care treatment and diagnostic testing
Determines whether such signs, symptoms, reactions, behavior or general response exhibits abnormal characteristics.
Schedules and performs pulmonary function testing, spirometry, peak flows, pulse oximetry, and administration of bronchodilators as ordered by physicians..
Processes diagnostic reports and returns to ordering physician.
Maintains oxygen tanks, pulmonary equipment and needed supplies for facility.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED is required
Vocational/Technical Diploma Graduate of accredited respiratory care program preferred
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Approved by the American Heart Association or The American Red Cross is required
1+ year experience as a pulmonary technician in an ambulatory care setting; working knowledge of cardio/pulmonary procedures and equipment relative to patient care; proven team player with excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills.
