Punch Press Operator at The Toro Company:

This employee adjusts and operates punch press equipment. They will punch, blank, stamp, draw, and form metal parts. They will utilize dies varying from single blanking to compound, combination or progressive dies and from put and take to automatic operations.

What Will You Do?

Produce parts made to print and process specifications.

Responsible for own set-ups, and for inspecting own parts.

Responsible for following safety rules, producing quality workmanship, and for good housekeeping in and around the work area.

Completion of all associated paperwork and record keeping as required.

May operate power equipment such as lift trucks, standup lift trucks and other equipment involved in moving,  and/or locating parts, material, jigs, fixtures, dies and scrap tanks. Responsible for checking the lift trucks to include brakes, wheels, steering, oil leaks, and other conditions related to safe operation.

Includes identifying and verifying inventory and completing respective paperwork as necessary.

What Do You Need?

High school diploma or equivalent.

Core skills training in basic shop math, measuring tools and blueprint reading or demonstrated equivalent knowledge is required.

Knowledge in machine shop practices and the use of respective inspection instruments used in inspecting own parts.

Completion of PMA Punch Press Operator training will be required upon entry to the classification or equivalent demonstrated knowledge.

Employees in this position will be required to push, pull, lift, stack pallets, etc. Lifting up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis. Deals with heavy weights on a rare basis, normally during set-up.

Work Environment:

The nature of this job is such that it requires continuous exposure to noise and oil. Oil can be both on the floor equipment and material or airborne. This position also places an employee in an environment which is extremely noisy, requiring the use of hearing protection and occasional exposure on an intermittent basis to cold when working on the loading dock, emptying scrap containers, etc.

Hazards involved in this position relate to the concern for severe physical injury to self and others when operating this power equipment. Other hazards would include exposure to noise, slippery floors, etc.
