Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Assistant to organize, track, and record purchase orders while researching material options and pricing to ensure order accuracy. You will build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to secure reliable and cost-effective sources for goods and services. This role involves assisting in the creation and processing of purchase orders based on established procurement procedures, verifying order accuracy, and staying informed about market trends, new products, and potential suppliers.
ResponsibilitiesAssist in the creation and processing of purchase orders based on established procurement procedures.Verify order accuracy, including product specifications, quantities, and pricing.Walk the shop floor to confirm inventory levels prior to releasing new purchase orders.Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective sources for goods and services.Stay informed about market trends, new products, and potential suppliers.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and compliance, to ensure seamless coordination of procurement activities.Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to orders.Provide regular updates on the status of orders and potential issues.Place orders with suppliers primarily over the phone.Engage in raw material purchasing.Essential SkillsExperience with purchase orders and supply chain management.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including navigating spreadsheets and pivot tables.Bilingual Spanish skills.Strong data entry and administrative support capabilities.Effective interpersonal skills for communication with vendors and internal teams.Experience in inventory management.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience as a purchasing clerk for 2+ years.Knowledge of ERP systems is a plus, as one will be implemented soon.Manufacturing experience, with automotive industry experience being a plus.Work Environment
You will work in a small team, collaborating closely with the purchasing manager and other cross-functional teams such as warehouse and inventory. The role requires walking the shop floor to verify inventory needs. The position is 100% onsite with an early shift time of either 6 am - 2:30 pm or 5 am - 1:30 pm. There is minimal overtime expected at this time.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
