THE POSITION: Purchasing Manager
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for orchestrating comprehensive procurement operations and fostering strategic supplier collaborations, overseeing all purchasing activities to streamline costs, manage risks, improve inventory, and build resilience throughout the supply chain. Leveraging market insights, supplier networks, and adept procurement methodologies, the Purchasing Manager spearheads the development and execution of procurement strategies aligning with organizational goals, strengthening market positioning, and ensuring sustained competitive advantage. Integral to this role is the leadership of cross-functional teams, the optimization of procurement processes, and the fostering of a culture centered on innovation and operational excellence and continuous improvement, reinforcing the organization's commitment to driving efficiency, elevating customer experience, and achieving strategic objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and manage procurement activities for timely sourcing of materials, goods, and services. Develop procurement strategies aligned with cost reduction, risk management, and optimization goals. Foster collaborations with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing while maintaining quality. Evaluate, select, and onboard suppliers, ensuring compliance with regulations and ethical standards. Analyze market trends and supplier performance for process improvement opportunities. Optimize inventory management to minimize costs and improve turnover ratios. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement with business objectives. Oversee implementation of supplier relationship management programs for enhanced collaboration. Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and systems. Develop KPIs to measure procurement performance and identify areas for improvement. Stay updated on industry best practices, technologies, and regulations. Mentor the procurement team to foster professional growth. Collaborate on demand forecasting and supply chain risk mitigation. Champion a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement. Prepare and present reports and recommendations to Senior Management. Work with systems support personnel to ensure effective systems utilization. Participate in external industry forums. Adhere to the Company’s guidelines related to Safety, Occupational Health, Quality, and Legal, while ensuring compliance with local government laws & regulations.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience. 5-10 years of industry experience. Demonstrated ability to use data to influence decision making. Must be flexible, adaptable, resourceful and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity. Experience developing and implementing forecasting and inventory control models. Proven experience leveraging technology and improved processes to drive business results. Strong analytical aptitude – ability to identify and analyze problems to provide an actionable solution. Detail oriented and highly organized – must be able to dig in and communicate the details of the business. Strong leadership skills – proven experience in leading and building teams. Experience working with domestic and overseas suppliers – understanding of import processes and regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills – specifically when partnering with suppliers and finding solutions to problems. Team player with stellar work ethic and people skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Calm demeanor under pressure - must have the ability to manage through change. Computer literacy with a proficiency in computer-based analytical and communication tools (Excel & PowerPoint). Fabric knowledge – a plus but not required.THE SHADE STORE offer is contingent upon:
