M&M Manufacturing is one of the country’s largest producers of sheet metal products, primarily servicing the air distribution and ventilation market. M&M provides a comprehensive range of round, rectangular, oval and spiral ductwork, fittings and accessories for residential and commercial construction. As the Purchasing Manager at M&M, you will assist in the development and implementation of purchasing/sourcing policies and administers all purchasing activities including selecting sources of supply, managing relationships with suppliers and developing cost savings for assigned categories of spend. You will also lead a team of direct reports. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized and collaborative who is committed to great communication, both as a team member and with suppliers.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Purchasing support
You will be responsible for not only technical expertise in Purchasing, but also for supporting and engaging your respective team and internal stakeholders across M&M locations.
Provide direction to the Purchasing team, guide them, lead them, train them, and ensure corporate processes are implemented and sustained.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders on business initiatives needing purchasing know-how or support
Assist with developing structure, standardized work and processes for the organization and will be responsible for implementation, training and adherence.
In collaboration with your team, work to ensure that system parameters, including supplier profiles, item setup, safety stocks, reorder points, lead-times, bills of materials and supplier prices are upkept and accurate.
Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier correspondence.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
Participate in cross-functional initiatives including continuous improvement, Kaizen, financial, IT, ERP where purchasing expertise is desired.
Cost reduction / risk mitigation
Lead end-to-end RFP/RFI processes for your assigned areas of spend, identify and build relationships with strategic suppliers and maximize value creation.
Develop opportunities for business impact via strategic sourcing, negotiations, leveraged spend initiatives. Perform detailed cost savings analysis and justifications for change
Negotiate prices, terms, and favorable conditions with suppliers maximize impact to the organization.
Review and negotiate contracts to minimize risk and ensure compliance with company policies.
Manage supplier relationships for areas of assigned spend, primarily goods and services in support of manufacturing operating locations.
Stay current with business situations and economic conditions to make informed decisions and adequately address impactful opportunities/challenges
Manage supplier price, quality and service issues
Organize supplier meetings and visits when appropriate and work closely with internal stakeholders daily
Analyze and develop spend areas for assisting with budgeting, goal setting and monitoring processes.
Minimum Requirements
On site in support of manufacturing facilities in Fort Worth, remote support for other M&M facilities
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role in supply chain, purchasing, or inventory planning.
Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
Experience with MRP and ERP systems, with QAD being a plus.
Professional certification such as CPM, CPSM, or CPIM is a plus.
A detail-oriented, analytical, and organized approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work with a sense of urgency.
