Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a global leader in scientific research and innovation, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Purchasing Manager. As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our Division Procurement department, ensuring flawless execution and world-class collaboration.

Scale of Responsibilities:Establish and implement short and long-term goals, strategic plans, policies, and procedures aligned with Group and the group leadership teamTranslate Divisional business and Procurement objectives and targets to Category management teams and monitor category management contributions to these targetsDeliver on key objectives (Annual Operating Plan - AOP), including delivery, quality, service, cost, innovation, and growth commitments for Division ProcurementCoordinate long-range strategies with business partners across the Division and successfully implement plansPartner with Category Managers, R&D, and Engineering to deliver annual value improvements and drive competitive advantageCoordinate business projects, such as M&A integrationProvide input for make or buy decisions, supplier selection, management of suppliers for product innovation projects, and vendor transitionsEnsure alignment with business colleagues within the Group and Division on projectsServe as the main contact for Enterprise Processes such as Supplier Quality, Supplier Risk, and Supplier Management

Technical ResponsibilitiesCollects supplier (technical) capability requirements for current and future product portfolio as input for supplier scoutingGathers Division business requirements and assures compliance to regulatory requirementsDrives and tracks compliance for indirect materials, as well as link with Distributed team for proceduresUses ‘scouting approach’ to influence R&D and Commercial partners earlier in NPI process, monitor product pipeline (LCM), support product platformingServes as critical issue point of contact for Procurement within the DivisionConsolidates, analyses and reports on divisional procurement metrics for business reviewsLeadership ResponsibilitiesAligns the Procurement strategy with the Divisional Leadership teamEnsures procurement value contribution to business and supports Division initiativesRuns division input to category strategies (Group specific)Engages with supplier leadership to support the CM team and Division in achieving Thermo Fisher objectives related to quality, cost, innovation, growth and complianceSupport the implementation of common processes, standardises work, use of tools and technologies
