Purchasing Manager Department:Purchasing Location:Kansas City, MO START YOUR APPLICATION (https://apply.hrmdirect.com/resumedirect/ApplyOnline/Apply.aspx?req\_id=1310270&source=1310270-CJB-0) Purchasing and Materials Manager Position Summary The Purchasing and Materials Manager oversees and supervises all activities connected with the procurement function including the ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in stockroom, warehouse, yard, or worksites. Maintain cost-control efforts in controlling related budgets and improve and ongoing efficiency of materials handling. Position Responsibilities + Locate, negotiate with, recruit, and maintain suppliers and vendors that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. + Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications. + Develop system to research and evaluate vendor quotations that utilize appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, selection, support, availability, distribution and delivery, and service. + Design, implement, and manage procurement reporting system to meet company requirements. + Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports. + Maintain, review, and analyze records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories for accuracy of information and to determine appropriate levels of supplies and equipment on an ongoing basis. + Monitor movement of goods and services to ensure that materials arrive on time, and in the event of problems, trace shipments and follow-up on undelivered materials. + Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss items of concern and determine corrective action. Resolve issues affecting production schedules and vendor or contractor grievances and claims. + Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials. + Analyze and evaluate data such as job orders, product specifications and operating sheets, parts and materials inventory lists, and equipment and worker production rates, to establish efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, equipment, and sequences of operations and workflow. + Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess materials. Studies and standardizes processes and procedures to improve efficiency. + Plans layout of stockroom, warehouse, yards, and worksites, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of materials stored, moved, and utilized. + Advise departments and personnel on the care and preservation of materials utilized by the Company. + Works closely with Project Managers to assist them in completing project related assignments. Provides assistance to field foreman. + Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and new requisitions for electrical supplies and other goods and services. + Seek sources for the intent of purchasing the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts. + Ensure all procurement activities are in compliance with all laws, policies, and administrative procedures. + Maintain records for purchases and ensure timely delivery of electrical supplies and other products, goods, and services. + Maintain positive relationships with all internal customers and external customers including suppliers, vendors, and contractors. Qualifications and Skills + Previous purchasing experience in the electrical field required + Thorough familiarity with M.S. Word and Excel required + Effective verbal and written communication skills required + Exceptional multi-tasking and follow through skills required + Experience in construction office support preferred + Familiarity with M.S.
