Purchasing Manager
Description We are in search of a Purchasing Manager to join our team in the construction industry based in Savannah, Georgia. As a Purchasing Manager, your main duties will revolve around managing supplier relationships, overseeing inventory, negotiating contracts, and maintaining product catalogs. Responsibilities: • Oversee Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) including data sharing, order size and timing, and inventory replenishment. • Manage contracts with external suppliers, shipping companies, and insurance providers to ensure the best pricing and terms. • Liaise with branches for product quotes, product searches, and sharing product knowledge. • Maintain and manage the product catalog at both Corporate and Branch Locations. • Navigate purchasing strategies for building materials. • Handle purchasing procurement tasks, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the process. • Participate in the construction estimating process and manage construction project accounting. • Utilize knowledge and skills in B2B sales and Business-to-business to Consumer (B2B2C) strategies. • Conduct market pricing analysis and prepare pricing proposals. • Utilize Configure Price Quote (CPQ) tools for vendor quotes and customer quotes. • Monitor and manage freight costs and freight quotes. • Implement cost estimates for various purchasing materials and projects Requirements • MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH BUILDING MATERIALS • Proven experience in managing a purchasing department • Demonstrated skills in purchasing materials and procurement strategies • Proficiency in construction cost estimation and managing construction projects • Familiarity with construction industry accounting practices • Experience in wholesale distribution and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) • Ability to manage relationships with external suppliers and conduct supplier negotiations • Proficiency in managing vendor contracts, including contract pricing • Knowledge of market pricing and ability to prepare pricing proposals • Strong negotiating skills, especially in contract negotiation • Experience in catalog management • Understanding of freight costs and ability to obtain freight quotes • Proven competence as a buyer, including preparing customer quotes • Familiarity with Configure Price Quote (CPQ) systems • Experience in obtaining vendor quotes • Proven track record in B2B sales and Business-to-business to Consumer (B2B2C) sales • Ability to provide accurate cost estimates Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
