Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team in Gaborone, Botswana. As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our organization's procurement processes, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing strategies that align with our business objectives.
Develop and implement strategic purchasing and procurement policies to optimize cost savings and improve operational efficiencyLead and mentor a team of purchasing professionals, fostering a collaborative and goal-oriented work environmentEstablish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and contractsAnalyze market trends, pricing, and economic indicators to make informed purchasing decisionsOversee the entire procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand departmental needs and align purchasing strategies accordinglyImplement and manage digital procurement systems to streamline processes and improve data accuracyConduct regular performance evaluations of suppliers and maintain a comprehensive supplier databaseDevelop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of purchasing strategiesStay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies in procurement to drive continuous improvementQualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related fieldMinimum of 5-7 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with at least 3 years in a managerial roleProven track record of developing and implementing successful purchasing strategiesStrong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectivelyExcellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and stakeholdersIn-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and supply chain managementProficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and data analysis toolsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approachExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentStrategic thinking capabilities with a focus on long-term planning and cost optimizationFamiliarity with international trade regulations and practicesProfessional certifications such as CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) are highly desirableAdditional InformationBotswana citizens only
