Purchasing Manager

Salary Range: $95,000- $115,000 based on experience. 

Reporting to the Director of Procurement Operations, the Purchasing Manager leads key tactical functions of the Purchasing team. Purchasing Management responsibilities include the management of three to four Buyers and is the primary focal point for Operations interactions. In this role the Purchasing Manager will serve as the subject matter expert on all aspects of purchasing process and procedure, including daily order management, preparing reports, inventory updates, and establishing effective communication plans as well as the proper execution of the plans with all relevant functions. The purchasing manager has supplier relations responsibilities including order follow-up, negotiations, sourcing, and accountability, with a focus on price, quality, service, capacity, and reliability, while supporting monthly plans and driving KPI’s.  Strong leadership, time management, organizational, and communication skills are essential. 

Responsibilities 

Support the business unit, purchasing director, and production sites Oversee purchase order processing and purchase order fulfilment for the business unit Meeting with team and functional members to identify and resolve issues Assist Sourcing Team with the preparation and review of RFPs Evaluate vendor performance based upon price, quality, service, capacity, on time delivery, and product selection. Monitor compliance with contractual agreements and resolve issues related to breach of contracts in timely manner Work with Sourcing Team and the New Product Development group to identify, quote, and source new parts Initiate Request for Quote (RFQ) as required Perform ongoing re-bidding of repetitive purchases to obtain and evaluate price quotes for benchmarking to ensure competitiveness in the market. Identify and source new vendors when applicable for existing and new product offerings Identify cost reduction opportunities and execute action plans to deliver planned cost improvements. Continuously seek ways to reduce costs while securing the best parts and services Work with sales and production planning to manage inventory requirements; manage the related parameters within the ERP system to optimize purchasing processes Review and report on daily, weekly, monthly KPIs around purchasing efficiency and effectiveness, inventory levels, and supplier performance. Execute action plans to achieve KPIs and inventory goals, and implement countermeasures when gaps to plan occur Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner with employees, co-workers, and management Act in a safe manner and ensure those around do not put themselves or others at risk Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Supervise and direct buyer(s) responsible for day-to-day purchasing Support team as needed in invoice reconciliation Interact with all business departments (both divisional and corporate) in unison with other management team members to achieve the organization’s strategic and financial goals

Qualifications 

Extensive experience with sourcing vendors and contract negotiations within a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred Experience with buying and sourcing truck and trailer related parts 2 -3 years of leadership experience- leading direct reports Experience establishing new supplier solutions as part of new product development Experience with MRP/ERP systems required –MRP/ERP implementation experience preferred Exceptional organization and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Data analysis, budgeting, and timeline management skills Above average skills in Microsoft products, especially D365 ERP Platform and Excel Ability to learn and communicate technical information related to product line Ability to travel

 Education

Bachelor’s degree or better in Business Administration, Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related field is required; equivalent work experience may be substituted for a degree
