This position is responsible for the management of the bidding, sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing process for all materials, supplies, equipment and services for The M Resort Spa and Casino in Las Vegas, Cactus Pete’s in Jackpot, NV, and Zia Park Casino Hotel & Racetrack in Hobbs, NM. The position will be based at The M Resort, Las Vegas.

 

This position is responsible for the management of the bidding, sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing process for all materials, supplies, equipment and services for three properties in the West Region.

Responsible for supervising and managing staff in the Purchasing department. Develops, implements and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives.Creates effective and efficient schedules, while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives and achieving deadlines.Responsible for assisting in the budget process for the department and provide recommendations; ensuring compliance to departmental budget initiatives; reporting budget concerns to manager.Manages the procurement and deliveries of materials, supplies, and equipment for three properties within the brand.Responsible for monitoring and supporting the Property’s diversity spend initiatives.Procurement and expediting of all material supplies, equipment and services across state and at properties.Monitors results of department/function through inspection, evaluation and analysis. Makes changes if necessary to achieve end result.Ensures all vendors comply with licensing requirements for appropriate regulatory bodies. Ensures that the procurement process is operating in an effective manner to ensure the optimum benefit as it relates to the bidding process, terms of contract and negotiations with vendors, while maintaining compliance with state regulations and internal controls.Recommends substitutions for appropriate considerations/requests and analyzes quotes from vendors for unusual items.Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiates the best possible price and service guarantee.Develops new supply source where vendors are inadequate.Purchases items and services on an advanced level.Identifies and implements economic savings and synergies across properties as appropriate.Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs. Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise.  Responsible for the overall achievement of department customer service goals.    Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to Executive Management / GM. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university.Five years’ experience in the purchasing field with progressively more challenging roles.Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word.)Proven ability to delegate and lead a team in an effective and efficient manner.Must possess proven negotiating skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English.Must possess excellent interpersonal and employee relations skills.Must be able to listen and respond to visual and oral cues.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                         

This job has supervisory responsibilities.

Responsible for staff development and training programs.Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regard to performance.Determines recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs. Determines work procedures and expedites workflow.Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
