Job Title: QA Lab Engineer
Job Description
The QA Lab Engineer is responsible for conducting tests and evaluations for initial samples for series release of components and assemblies from supplied parts according to Material Test Plans created by Laboratory Analysis Specialists within the specified schedule. The role also involves reviewing supplier test results and documentation for completeness and accuracy, and assisting Laboratory Analysis Specialists in preparing samples for testing and microscope evaluation.
Responsibilities
+ Utilize laboratory testing equipment to complete a material test plan created by a Laboratory Analysis Specialist. Perform evaluations to International, National, and company-specific standards, including environmental cycling, heat aging, weld evaluations, color measurements, microstructure microscopy, paint adhesion, and corrosion properties.
+ Prepare samples for testing using various tools including hand tools, band saw, mounting press, grinding/polishing equipment, and other laboratory equipment.
+ Document all tests and evaluations according to International, National, and company-specific standards, including photographic/microscopic evidence, raw data, reasons for evaluation, and completion of the test plan as provided by the Laboratory Analysis Specialist.
+ Evaluate supplier documentation, including test results, for completeness and accuracy according to drawings, standards, and test plans.
+ Track and communicate the status of testing to the Laboratory Analysis Specialist and Manager at regular intervals and as requested.
+ Provide technical reports upon request from the Laboratory Analysis Specialist or Manager.
Essential Skills
+ 3-5+ years of laboratory experience with an Automotive OEM or related field
+ Experience with ISO certified laboratory
+ Materials engineering, laboratory experience
+ Microscopy/microscope work
+ Heat testing and material identification
+ Experience with supplier test documentation
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
+ German and/or Spanish language knowledge preferred
Work Environment
The position is based in an office setting within the quality lab area of a plant. The QA Lab Engineer will have their own cubicle close to the lab. The role offers a long-term 24 month contract opportunity with the possibility of permanent hire, premium pay, paid time off (PTO), and holiday billable.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00
