Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a QA/QC Manager for our Converter Station in Adelanto, CA.
This person is responsible for managing quality assurance and quality control activities for Substation & converter station projects in Adelanto, CA. This role ensures that all construction and maintenance activities meet the required quality standards and comply with industry regulations and company policies. The QA/QC Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining safety, reliability, and efficiency in converter station projects through meticulous oversight, documentation, and leadership of the QA/QC process.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership of QA/QC Process:
+ Lead the QA/QC process to ensure the highest standards of quality and compliance.
+ Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives for the QA/QC process aligned with the company's mission and vision.
+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and quality within the QA/QC process.
+ Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for QA/QC staff.
+ Coordinate with other departments and senior management to integrate QA/QC activities into overall project planning and execution.
Inspection and Testing Oversight:
+ Supervise detailed inspections of converter station components, including foundations, steel structures, electrical equipment, control wiring, and grounding systems.
+ Ensure quality control testing and inspection adherence to contract requirements and company best practices.
+ Oversee inspections of above and below-ground conduit installations for adherence to plans and specifications.
Documentation and Reporting:
+ Review and approve all QA/QC forms submitted from field inspectors.
+ Train inspectors on duties.
+ Create, update, and maintain the project submittal log and all other project-specific quality control reports.
+ Review drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary.
+ Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project-specific contract documents.
+ Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confront non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner .
+ Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work.
+ Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use in the project.
+ Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems.
+ Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices.
Compliance and Standards:
+ Verify that all construction and maintenance activities comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC) and local, state, and federal regulations.
+ Ensure adherence to company quality control procedures and safety protocols.
Coordination and Communication:
+ Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
+ Communicate inspection results and quality concerns to project stakeholders promptly and effectively.
+ Conduct and lead preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish and maintain standards of care for each definable feature of work.
+ Provide strategic guidance and support to construction teams on quality assurance and control best practices.
Continuous Improvement:
+ Identify and implement opportunities for improving quality control processes and procedures.
+ Stay updated on the latest industry standards, technological advancements, and best practices in converter station construction and maintenance.
+ Lead initiatives to enhance QA/QC processes and mentor QA/QC staff in continuous improvement efforts.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:
+ Ensure that all activities are performed following environmental regulations and safety standards.
+ Participate in safety audits and provide strategic recommendations to enhance site safety.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
+ Strong knowledge of electrical converter station construction processes and standards.
+ Proficiency in QA/QC methodologies, tools, and techniques.
+ Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, etc.) is a plus.
Leadership and Management Skills:
+ Proven ability to lead and develop a team of QA/QC professionals.
+ Effective communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
+ Strong problem-solving and strategic decision-making capabilities.
Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge:
+ Deep understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards (NEC, NESC, etc.).
+ Experience working with regulatory agencies and conducting compliance audits.
Analytical and Organizational Skills:
+ Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze complex QA/QC data.
+ Superior organizational skills to manage multiple large-scale projects and priorities effectively.
+ Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.

Compensation Range
The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $60.00/Hr. - depending on experience and qualifications.
