The QA/QC – Motor Shop Technician will be responsible for inspection of machined parts for MS Directional machine shop, repair & maintenance, quality control, and engineering departments. The QA/QC – Motor Shop Technician will then issue the inspection report and supporting quality notice and/or reports if applicable. This will include identifying non-conformities and Quality Notices. Reporting to the Quality Control Department, this role must be passionate about quality assurance of all duties performed.
The QA/QC – Motor Shop Technician works under the direction of the Quality Manager.
Detailed Description:
Trouble shoot and diagnose the problem of equipment brought to the maintenance shop Perform all tests and repair in strict compliance with the manufacturer’s service manual and bulletins Reads, interprets, writes, and complies with technical data including Service Instructions, Bulletins and other applicable documents as directed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or MSD tool instructions Quality control of parts to determine whether they need to be repaired or replaced List parts to be replaced referring to the manufacturer’s manuals and diagrams Look up all necessary repair parts and order them as needed Operates devices to comply with test requirements and to perform data acquisition and analysis using testing equipment including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, etc. Document inspections, test results, repair work done and parts replaced for proper billing and record upkeep Ensure the yard and shop spaces are clean and organized Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good working order Safely operate forklift to move equipment around the yard Participate in all required meetings, training and development activities Ability to communicate, including ability to read, write, and speak English and to promptly follow verbal and written directions in English. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools
Ability to safely navigate the yard and shop work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) Ability to operate heavy equipment Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills including ability to promptly give, and follow, directions when working with others and ability to interact productively with coworkers and third parties Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times Willing to be on call after hours, work extended schedules, including extra days, occasional nights, weekends and holidays.Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED 6+ months of stable related work historyPreferred Qualifications
Quality control experience with vector gauges and RA meter and other measurement equipment Knowledge of API and TH Hill industry standards. Certified Mechanical Inspector, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred. Ability to work independently while adhering to expected deadline schedules.Additional Details:
The QA/QC - Motor Shop Technician must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop and yard which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
