QA Specialist

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitors quality improvement projectsAudits implementation of quality system for effectiveness by verifying operation activities to Gate Gourmet, Customer and Regulatory specificationMonitors corrective action systemIn conjunction with the QA Manager and QA Supervisor, educates (trains) unit staff and managers in quality related issuesPlays a key role in developing a comprehensive quality programIn conjunction with the QA Manager and QA Supervisor, implements the quality system detailed in the quality manualChampions the total quality improvement efforts and initiates problem solving efforts and assures implementationDrives prevention vs. detection of defectsCoordinates actions to prevent the occurrences of nonconformitiesMaintains customer compliance resolutionResponsible for the maintenance of key performance metrics for the Quality organizationControls Food safety and Quality of processing and manufacturing within the businessSupports customer audits, government audits to meet complianceVerifies and ensures company policies and procedures are followedEnsures quality specifications and requirements are followed and metDevelops Standard Operating ProceduresResponsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specificationTrains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity and security with minimum labor and costsResponsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other support functions

Qualifications

Education:

College degree in related discipline and knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP and/or Quality Management

Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience in Food safety control practices (GMP's, SOP's, and HACCP) and quality program control requiredMinimum 2 years experience working in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering environment or equivalent experience in the related field preferredExperience working in the airline industry would be an asset

Minimum skill requirements:

Intermediate level Microsoft office tool skills (Excel, Word)Knowledge of quality auditing, inspection methodsDetail orientedStrong organizational skills, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-taskStrong interpersonal skills, interact well with multiple departments as requiredAble to work with little supervisionExcellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills

Preferred skills:

Excellent analytical skillsBasic statistics calculation, and/or mathematical comprehensionProject management skillsKnowledge of Public Health regulationsHACCP certified and/or Food Safety training a plusBasic lean, six sigma knowledge, and/or continuous improvement understanding a plus
