QA/QC Technician
Position Description:
The QA/QC Technician is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and implementing changes to improve drill and blast activities in the Williams underground. This person will work closely with the Technical Services, Geology, and Operations groups to help drive improvements in recovery and dilution and to ensure compliance to plan. Time will be split between being underground collecting data and monitoring changes and being on surface conducting analysis.
Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-drilling, drilling and loading QA/QC to ensure compliance to plan Perform cup density testing to ensure correct explosive density Conduct vibration monitoring analysis to measure the performance of the holes Gather and use existing findings and work completed to date to create forward work plan Complete borehole surveys/hole pickups for all drilling and conduct real time feedback for drill and blast crews Work closely with supplier groups to trial and implement new initiatives using new products Observe and track loading practices and create improvement plan Be involved in and/or lead drilling and blasting initiatives Update the drill and blast database and ensure compliance to plan Drilling and Blast improvements will be the focus Training opportunities to obtain blasting certificate and training on drill and blast principles Conduct ventilation surveys, ground control pull testing, or other QA/QC work as required with other technical service departments
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education 5 years of experience in underground mining with good oversight into drilling and blasting practices or relevant underground experience Operational experience would be beneficial Mine Engineering degree would be beneficial Strong Microsoft Office suite – word, excel, and power point CAD experience, preferably Deswik Drill & Blast Good organizational and analytical skills Ability to lead change and work in a team-based environment
