Job Title: QC Lab ManagerJob Description This position oversees the QC Lab, managing a team of 10 employees. Reporting to the Director of Laboratories, you will be responsible for maintaining the lab's efficiency and compliance with environmental and quality management standards. You will play a key role in ensuring the lab meets customer expectations through well-defined, repeatable processes. Responsibilities + Oversee day-to-day management of the QC laboratory, including all testing, record keeping, QC staff supervision, and budget management. + Maintain safety and environmental policies and procedures for lab operations and personnel. + Provide supervision, leadership, and training to laboratory staff. + Utilize problem-solving skills to assist internal and external customers. + Maintain compliance with quality and environmental management system requirements. + Ensure lab equipment is calibrated and kept in good working order. + Recommend new equipment and methodologies as needed. + Review and maintain test methods and work instructions. + Work with manufacturing to improve the production process. + Coordinate activities with outside testing laboratories. + Maintain general housekeeping of the lab. Essential Skills + Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related science. + Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience with teams of 3-10 people. + 5+ years of laboratory experience in a QC production or manufacturing environment. + Minimum 1 year experience with gas chromatography (GC). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with instrumentation maintenance and calibration methods. + Understanding of analyst training programs and their implementation. + Ability to take new test methods from initial development to implementation. + Experience with process continuous improvement. + Proficiency in MS Office and ERP programs. + Ability to lead and collaborate within a fast-paced and team-based environment. + Excellent written and oral communication skills. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Work Environment Very clean lab environment with plenty of instrumentation for various tests related to fuels and solvents. The company has a family-oriented atmosphere and offers a great working environment. The lab operates at a fast pace, requiring efficient processing of products due to tight turnaround times. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
