Under broad supervision, conducts analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances to determine and evaluate their chemical and physical properties and to investigate their applications. May develop and apply new analytical approaches. May perform special long-term projects of a confidential nature and special analyses on non-routine samples. Provides consultation, training, and trouble-shooting for instrument, software, and engineering problems as required. Role typically requires between 3 and 5 years of experience.Perform routine laboratory testing to support product quality, customer applications, and research & development initiatives within the Ion Exchange segment at our Newark, NJ location. This position will have a specific focus on Ion Exchange and resin technologies being utilized in the treatment/purification of a broad range of applications, including condensate polishing.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform all analytical QC testing on raw materials, finished products, specialty & routine raw material bead, Gravex and powdered testing as assigned.Keep accurate and retrievable records of material analyzed in the QC LabPerform QC testing and prepare certificates of analysis (COA)/conformance (COC) and origin (COO) for Ion exchange products.Ensure that results are available when needed for processing or shipment.Prepare products labels as assigned.Complete contract review forms (CRFs) for all orders.Provide analytical support for laboratory instrumentationDevelop or update operating procedures for instruments and recommend improvements to instrument operation and any other test methods to facilitate simpler operation or improvement reliability of results as needed.Develop knowledge and understanding of Graver’s product lines in the customers’ applicationsDevelop complete understanding of the Epicor QC ModuleAssist in the development and documentation of new test methods and test method updatesProvide instrument and method training, and guidance to laboratory staffMaintain laboratory equipment and facilities in a neat, clean, orderly and professional condition on a daily basisWork cooperatively with team members, associates and manager.Positively implement company policies, demonstrate good work ethics.Qualifications and Skills:
A bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (preferred) or other related sciences with 0-5 years of experience working in a laboratory environmentOR
An Associate’s degree in Chemistry or other related sciences with 3-10 years of experience working in a laboratory environmentOR
A high school education (or equivalent) with 10-15 years working in a laboratory environmentProficiency in the Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of workplace safety and ability to follow safety procedures as requiredGood understanding of mathematicsPhysical ability to do lifting and other work as requiredKnowledge of analytical equipment such as UV-Vis spectrophotometer, surface area analyzer, and particle size analyzer a plusAbility to be part of a small cohesive teamKnowledge of work place safety and ability to follow safety procedures requiredSelf-driven, results orientedThe starting salary for this position is $60,500 annually.
