Summary:The QC Microbiology Scientist 1 role offers an outstanding chance to contribute to our world-class research and development efforts. You will perform sophisticated microbiological analyses on raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples. Your work will be crucial in maintaining the highest quality standards and ensuring the safety and efficacy of our products.
Core Responsibilities:Conduct microbiological testing of pharmaceutical raw materials, packaging components, finished products, and environmental samples using both compendial and internally developed methods.Implement Microbiology Method Development Protocols as approved by Microbiology Management, QA, and clients.Identify and report any out-of-specification results or non-routine product issues; recommend solutions.Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments as necessary.Document and communicate testing results clearly and accurately.Collaborate with internal departments, corporate sites, agencies, and clients.Prepare and assist in filing regulatory documents for internal projects.Develop comprehensive instructional materials, including SOPs and other relevant documents.Ensure compliance with SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and safety guidelines.Education:Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or Natural Science, or equivalent experience.
Experience:1+ years required, 2+ years preferred in pharmaceutical or microbiological testing. Technical experience with aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, and microorganism identification. Administrative experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office.
Equivalency:Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Proficiencies:Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.Willingness to work weekends if needed.Required:Knowledge of analytical instrumental technologies.Understanding of qualitative and quantitative microbiological analysis.Familiarity with pharmaceutical GMPs and regulatory requirements.Problem-solving skills and logical scientific approach.Proficiency with Environmental Monitoring, Microbial Limits Testing, Growth Promotion, Media Quality Control, and Method Development (preferred).Ability to interpret technical procedures and regulations.Mathematical skills for test reliability and variance analysis.Physical Requirements:Ability to move around office locations and perform physical tasks, including lifting 10-35 pounds.Dexterity for prolonged typing and equipment operation.Visual acuity for detailed work.Ability to sit, reach, talk, and hear for extended periods.Use of safety equipment as required.At Thermo Fisher Scientific, your remarkable story becomes part of our collective mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
