ABOUT THE ROLE
The quality control group monitors, supports, and influences the design, configurations, and actual construction necessary to guide our design and production teams to manufacture high quality industry leading homes and components for our customers in accordance with regulatory requirements.
The quality control supervisor oversees the setting of quality expectations and job performance requirements for the construction of homes in accordance with HUD regulations and engineering team designs as well as the validation that those expectations are carried out and evident in homes ready for sale.
The quality control supervisor retains complete accountability for execution and continuous improvement of the quality control process across the production environment through indirect guidance and facilitation. He/she is accountable for process documentation, reengineering suggestions, quality assurance, quality control staffing, production staffing suggestions, metrics, controls, risk identification, and service level expectation setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Works in a safe manner following all safety policies while performing job duties. Undertakes to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees by proactively identifying any safety standards, procedures, or regulations that are not optimally addressed. Maintains open communication with the plant general manager, production manager, and operations manager regarding safety concerns. Provides direction to plant quality control team. Assures homes are complete in the proper station or that proper procedures for deviating work are being followed. Assures home is clean, damage free, and in full HUD compliance before a label is installed. Assures that all required approvals, manufacturer’s instructions, job performance requirements, and any other documentation or guides necessary to build products is available. When missing, facilitates development of the necessary guidance working with design, engineering, and production leaders. Supervises quality control workforce including providing input on hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, and other changes of status of quality control team members. Assists with training and educating production supervisors and line assemblers to build to all requirements. Performs and/or oversees daily audits of different departments assuring compliance with code and quality requirements. Identifies root cause of repetitive problems in production, assists departments with identifying remediation actions, and continuously checks production until satisfied that the production issue is resolved. Works with service to follow up on problems reported from sold units and assure resolution of those problems. Works collaboratively with production manager, production supervisors, team leads, and line assemblers to discuss inspection results and provides guidance as needed. Ensures documentation of inspection results. Maintains a good attendance record and proactively communicates and coordinates with supervisors regarding attendance. Assists in maintaining and keeping tools, machinery, and work areas across the plant clean and organized Performs various other job duties as assigned and needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
3 year’s relevant and related quality control experience working in the manufactured home industry is preferred. This can be a physically demanding job requiring the ability to lift 40+ pounds, to grip, work over head, pull at chest height, bend, stand, walk, kneel, crawl, push, pull, reach, climb and carry various materials and equipment. High school diploma and substantial experience in and clear understanding of the requirements and expectations across multiple production areas in a fabrication / manufacturing environment expected. Bilingual Spanish preferred. Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with fellow employees and supervisors including when providing constructive feedback and inspection results. Demonstrated ability to coach, support, develop and encourage staff, demonstrate empathy for others, to be trained, and take direction is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Ability to handle multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to work in a team, to be trained, and take direction. Flexible to work in a fast paced, changing environment. Not afraid to get dirty and handle tools/equipment daily. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
