Chart's Quality, Safety and Environment Specialist position is critical to our overall success.  This position will assure, through inspection, testing, auditing, procedural compliance, documentation and training of Chart’s products and processes meet all regulatory, customer and Chart requirements.  This position will function as a member of the facility's leadership team to assure that our employee’s work in a safe and compliant environment.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

• Must have a strong commitment to Quality, Safety, and the Environment, ensuring compliance with all QSE related policies and procedures
• Conducts inspections anywhere in the plant with minimum amount of supervision and direction
• Maintains complete and correct documentation of all inspections and tests per regulatory, customer, and Chart requirements
• Conducts calibration of test/measuring equipment per written instructions
• Conducts in-process inspection and maintains proper documentation
• Inspects products, which are complete and ready for shipment
• Audits processes and products per established procedures/work instructions to assure compliance with all requirements, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001
• Assists in processing of Nonconforming Material
• Operates various types of gauges, calipers, and measuring devices
• Assists other employees to assure Chart’s QSE system is effective, creates detailed plans to increase effectiveness
• Coordinates training of individual employees on Chart’s procedures and documentation, and Safety procedures as well as customer specifications and specific requirements
• Works directly with the Facility Manager regarding specification and procedural updates and revisions to Chart’s documents and procedures. These changes and recommendations are channeled through the relevant department lead at one of Chart’s facilities for final approval and release for use
• Works closely with the Customer Service Representative and the customer regarding the shipment of customer equipment in and out of the facility
• Assist with maintaining the yard storage area and customer equipment organization
• Maintain the quarterly inspections of facility equipment
• Perform periodic sampling for environmental compliance, including but not limited to Strom Water Runoff and Visual Emissions Testing
• Participates in regulatory audits and work to create plans with leadership team to satisfy any audit findings
• Evaluates facility and daily workmanship for potential risks, makes recommendations for prevention of any hazards
• Investigates workplace safety incidents to find a root cause
 

Your Education Should Be…

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or relevant experience

• Knowledge of welding procedures or certified in welding, brazing, vacuum, etc.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

• This position will require the ability to move around the production floor and investigate issues with the production equipment

Exposure to loud noises, overhead cranes and bright welding arcs Exposure to an outdoor work environment involving heat, cold, wind and rain Exposure to material debris relevant to a welding operation 

• Lift up to 15 pounds

• Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office setting

• Personable and able to work well with others

• Demonstrating good judgment in critical situations

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in a Quality, Safety or Environmental field

• Must be able to perform in the following inspection areas: Shipping Inspection, In Process Inspections, and Environmental Compliance

• Basic Mathematics

• Chart Quality Policies and Procedures

• Statistically sound Sampling Plans

• Sound working knowledge of ASME and DOT Codes

• Proficient in the use of inspection and test equipment, and close tolerance work

• Good oral and written communication skills
