Job Overview A multi-functional role to work as the QSHE Manager and Safety Champion for the ISP South Atlantic Contract on Ascension Island The role involves providing appropriate and timely advice, assistance, training, and mentoring where required for all quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental aspects of the contract. To implement and ensure QSHE systems and policies are fully implemented and understood by all on the contract and that the contract is fully compliant with all statutory legislation, QSHE policies, and procedures. To provide QSHE advice to our client, company managers, personnel, sub-contractors, and whenever required the Base Commander. Manage, arrange, and monitor all self or joint audits and react to any non-conformances. Collaborate the UK QSHE Team to manage and implement the Mitie IMS system across the contract, aligning delivery with the Mitie QSHE policies, procedures, and ensuring best practice is followed.
Main Duties
Develop and deliver in-house quality, health and safety, and environmental training packages and toolbox talks to identified personnel within the company. Manage the training register and matrix. Take responsibility for the production, regular updating, and maintenance of the site-specific QSHE plans, annual management review, management systems such as Asbestos, Legionellosis, and the Contract Management Plan. Conduct self-assessments, reviews, and implement other company continuous improvement objectives. Undertake site QSHE inspection and tours across all project works ensuring effective sub-contractor management and control. Manage all company online QSHE tools and databases for incident/accident, auditing, and risk assessment management. Participate in and ensure the effective implementation of the EMO2 Audit regime, general management of QSHE audit documents, records, and trackers. Manage and mentor the QSHE Process Co-Ordinator & EMO2 assistant in all supporting duties. Support the Project Team with Tender preparation, reviews, and submissions on all aspects of QSHE. Maintain accurate records and report monthly on QSHE statistics: Non-conformances and actions taken to rectify them; Accidents and incidents; environmental energy, fuel, and water usage and waste segregation, reuse, recycling, and disposal to landfill. Maintain and implement the waste management plan. Provide support and advice to all colleagues on the development and implementation of method statements and risk assessments in line with company policies and procedures utilising online reporting tools. Provide a proactive role in the investigation of all accidents, incidents, and near misses that occur and provide prompt and accurate reporting in line with business processes. Provide action plans, toolbox talks, and process and procedure reviews to support the culture of proactive prevention. . Attend monthly meetings and chair the Health and Safety committee, attend flight safety and SIMM meetings with DIO & AIB. Attend any other safety meetings that will benefit the contract. Provide support to third-party audits and visits as required. Advise on the creation and development of Safe Systems of Work in accordance with JSP375. NEBOSH diploma or equivalent. Auditing Competencies (45001/14001/9001) Understanding and experience in carrying out audits to ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001 requirements. Experience in managing and maintaining an Integrated Management System. Computer literate – Word, Excel, MS365, Teams, etc. Flexible, hands-on can-do attitude. Pro-active attitude and involvement. Team player with experience in leadership and personal development. Good communicator, with timely and accurate delivery of knowledge and experience to others. Lead by example and continue to develop a strong safety culture. Good interpersonal and organisational skills. Full driving license.Desirable
Level 3 AET (Award in Education and Training). AMIOSH Tech. Environmental Qualification: IEMA. Knowledge of Mitie business and/or experience in a construction or facilities management environment on an MOD Establishment. Experience in the provision of QSHE training to diverse employee groups. Good working knowledge of JSP375 – MoD H&S Manual. Proven record of accomplishment in the provision of practical operational health and safety policy. Full Time Notice period 2 months Unaccompanied Hours worked per week 47.5 hrs 80 days leave excluding weekends Tour Length 24 months Site allowance 5% Tour bonus 10% Compliance requirements – security, medical and dental Flights provided free of charge (4 periods: 5 months on, 1 month off on leave)
