Title: Maritime Archaeologist (QMA) Location: Remote Job Code: QMA-25 Job Link: SEARCH Job Postings - Direct Applications (https://www.searchinc.com/careers) Position Information SEARCH has an immediate opening for a Part-Time, Temporary, Qualified Maritime Archaeologist (QMA) to join our maritime team on offshore archaeological monitoring projects and learn about renewable energy development of the Outer Continental Shelf. The immediate need is for offshore deployment starting as early as May 15, 2025, for up to six weeks. Mobilization and demobilization dates may change, so candidates must remain flexible between May 15 and August 15, 2025. Key Responsibilities: + Coordinate with the logistics team for each project’s scheduling, travel, fleet, and equipment requirements.  + Maintain the highest professional standards. + Adhere to all company and client health, safety, and environment (HSE) requirements.  + Maintain relationships with vessel crew and client representatives.  + Communicate project developments with the Principal Investigator (PI)/Project Manager (PM).  + Understand, implement, and communicate to vessel crew an unanticipated archaeological discovery plan. + Prepare professional daily progress reports. + Prepare clear and concise unanticipated archaeological discovery notifications, if warranted. + Stabilize, inventory, document, store, and transport archaeological material from an underwater environment, if warranted. + Understand and adhere to the SEARCH Brand Guidelines, SEARCH Style Guide, SEARCH Fieldwork Guide, SEARCH Project Management Manual, and the SEARCH Employee Manual.  + Complete timesheets and all other administrative or project requirements accurately and on schedule.  + Understand and strictly adhere to SEARCH’s confidentiality, non-disclosure, and social media agreements, as well as any project- or client-specific requirements limiting the release of project data.  + Other duties, as assigned. + Identify potential human and faunal remains, and treat any suspected human remains respectfully and in a manner consistent with the research design and applicable State and Federal guidelines and laws.  + Perform quality control of field data (hand-written and electronic) on a daily basis to ensure information is accurate and complete.  + Maintain the highest professional standard for our clients, co-workers, media, and general public.  Requirements Qualifications Required: + Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field. + Demonstrable experience or equivalent specialized training in maritime archaeology. + Meet the Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualifications for archaeology. + A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation. + Ability to work in the offshore environment for extended periods of time. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Qualifications Preferred: + Knowledge of material culture found in offshore environments. + Approved BOSIET and offshore medical physical.
