Primary duties include crisis intervention, risk assessment, diagnostic impression utilizing the DSM, short-term stabilization services as well as individual and group therapy. Treatment is provided based upon sound theoretical principles, with knowledge of the special issues and needs of the population served. The incumbent under QMHP guidance develops treatment strategies to meet the multifaceted needs of a diverse population, with attention to the policies and procedures of the organization, and is expected to interface with both internal and external treatment providers. The incumbent under QMHP guidance works under the regular supervision and direction of a Licensed Team Lead. Minimum Requirements + In the final year and within three months of graduation from a Master’s degree program recognized from an accredited program in counseling, psychology, social work, family therapy or closely related field. + Graduation must be achieved within three months of hire to remain employed in a QMHP capacity. + Knowledge of psychiatric terminology and the process of psychiatric diagnosis. + Must demonstrate knowledge of the theory and practice of mental health assessment and treatment and have basic research skills. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. + Must have organizational and leadership skills. + Must be able to demonstrate good independent judgment, adapt to new duties and work in a changing environment. + If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment. + Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment. **Working at University Health is about making a difference.
