Quality and Compliance Coordinator, 1 year contract, $57,000 - $67,000 per annum
Responsibilities Position Summary: The Quality and Compliance Coordinator primarily supports the management and maintenance of the assigned distribution center(s) food safety and quality systems and other compliance programs. This role involves overseeing all supply chain activities from inbound freight receipt to inventory management and restaurant delivery, ensuring stringent adherence to quality standards and business processes. The coordinator will collaborate closely with local management to drive quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement while supporting environmental compliance as needed. Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: Ensure that operations comply with governmental regulations, including the Safe Foods for Canadians Act, HACCP programs, GFSI requirements, and maintain high standards of food safety and quality Track and manage complaints from local restaurants and distribution centers – addressing food safety and quality issues in collaboration with suppliers and the McDonald's quality system Support non-conforming product management, including documentation and resolution processes Participate in stock recovery efforts, coordinating necessary resources and reconciling affected product quantities Facilitate internal and external audits for distribution centers, ensuring findings are documented and addressed promptly by local leadership Complete corrective actions following quality audits, ensuring adherence to certified SFCR and GFSI quality systems Develop, implement, and deliver training programs on Food Safety and Quality Management Systems for employees Collaborate with stakeholders to support revisions to business processes and workflows that enhance quality performance metrics Utilize data and analytics to identify quality issues and provide recommendations for improvements Main point of contact for their site(s) as it relates to ISO 14001. Participating in and leading training on environmental awareness, ensuring staff are informed and engaged in sustainability efforts Ensure the operations follow all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP)/Good Drivers Practices (GDP) for transport rules and regulations Other projects or duties as assigned Qualifications Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in food science, food safety, quality assurance or a related field with 2+ years of experience in quality control, compliance, or warehouse management, OR High School Diploma with 5+ years of experience in quality control, compliance, or warehouse management Familiarity with GFSI standards and experience with food safety management systems Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to handle multiple priorities effectively Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management Problem-solving orientation with strong attention to detail and capability to identify irregularities Understands the broader context of quality and compliance in the supply chain, seeking opportunities for improvement Committed to personal growth and providing assistance to team members in their development Shows willingness to embrace and promote changes within quality processes and EMS initiatives Maintains open communication lines, ensuring important updates are shared with team members and stakeholders Focuses on achieving quality goals and standards while adhering to ethical practices and company values Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with quality management software Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate a proactive approach to quality and compliance issues Willingness to travel occasionally for training, audits, or collaborative initiatives (up to 10%) Preferred Skills and Experience: 2+ years in a distribution environment
