What does taking part in the Collins Aerospace Quality Engineering Apprentice Programme involve?
Aimed at highly motivated and ambitious individuals, eager to be a part of a world leader within the aerospace and defence industry. This scheme is geared towards supporting the career development of apprentices who wish to play an instrumental role in the manufacturing of the next generation of civil and military aircraft.
The role is based at our Collins Aerospace Composite Centre of Excellence facility in Banbury, UK – formerly the Crompton Technology Group (CTG) – designs, qualifies and manufactures high-performance structural and non-structural aerospace composite products for military and commercial applications.
We are looking to recruit high calibre apprentice who can support Actuation Systems with the effective planning and execution of Quality Engineering activities. A Quality Engineer (QE) within the Collins business leads from the front, living and driving our core values of Engaged, Empowered and Accountable - always.
As a QE you are accountable for all aspects of quality improvement. This may include, projects such as the reduction in scrap and rework costs, tackling a problem in the field, or developing a business process ensuring that the needs of the business and our diverse customer base are met. Alongside the project-based initiatives, you will also work with our programme-based quality team to support with quality related issues, whilst helping to ensure that safety, quality, and output targets are met for a given area of the Banbury facility.
A successful Collins QE is self-motivated with excellent time management and organisation skills. They will also be an expert communicator and can solve the toughest of challenges, all while placing the customer at the centre of everything they do.

Development and training to build your career
We recognise that your development is key for you to fulfil your potential in the world of work. That’s why we’ve created a programme that will support your learning to deliver real business value.
The apprenticeship programme lasts for a period of 2 years and is a partnership between Collins Aerospace and JC Training and Consultancy. You will learn key Quality principles which will be vital to your development at Collins Aerospace.
As an apprentice your learning will consist of both academic and functional training. Your learning will be a blended learning approach, where you will spend time learning basic quality principle’s thought a mixture of online masterclasses, and on-site, putting your learning into practice within a team of our skilled engineers to develop the basic principles and under pinning knowledge needed for your career.
By the end of the programme, having completed your functional training and apprenticeship, you will be awarded Level 4 Quality Practitioner.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for the best individuals who have the following attributes:
Have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade C/5 or above including Mathematics, English and a Science based subject
Be a UK resident living in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
Good analytical skills and problem solving
Good personal management and self-organisation skills
Effective communicator – written and verbal
