In this role, you will apply engineering skills and mindset to ensure best in class quality of the world’s finest Resilient Wedge Gate Valves for water utilities. Your skills will be put to the test with process management and improvement related to quality and efficiency in both foundry and manufacturing processes. Our goal is to provide the world’s finest water valves, and ensure quality and process management practices support our customers for generations to come. Our products are critical for delivering clean and safe drinking water to communities across North America. Our manufacturing methods include foundry (ductile iron), machining, powder coating, assembly, and other external processes. We require quality engineers for internal processes, and purchased components to ensure products meet strict regulatory and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate and support the quality and manufacturing teams to sustain and continuously improve Mueller’s Quality Management System.
Primary Responsibilities:
Engage and support manufacturing technicians and supervisors to implement best practices for process and quality management.Lead cross- functional teams in the use of DMAIC methodology improve processes.Support activities related ISO Certifications, Recertification's, and Non-conformance reviews to ensure Chattanooga Plant’s QMS conformance to ISO 9001:2015 standards.Participate in the internal audit and layered process audit function.Process customer complaints in the Mueller ERP system and follow up with corrective actions.Prepare monthly reports for plant performance and customer satisfaction KPI’s.Perform engineering analysis with Geomatic Control X software to compare 3D part scans and mold scans to 3D models for first article inspection and production part approval process.Develop and execute corrective action plans.Support third party audits, witness testing of product, and QMS reviews at the Chattanooga Plant.Improve and maintain control plans and procedures for assigned processes.Drive standard utilization, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Corrective Action reporting, tracking, & closure.Review and analyze product and material specifications to appropriate standards to ensure regulatory conformance of finished products.Interact with supply chain management and vendors to ensure the quality of purchased parts and materials.Manage assigned new products through the Production Part Approval Process for the Chattanooga plant.Lead and manage problem solving and process engineering to minimize off quality and scrap for all foundry and manufacturing processes.Support customers in the field as requested.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering5+ years in the Quality discipline5+ years in manufacturing plant(s) environmentStrong experience & background with ISO 9001:2015 standardsDemonstrated success using Lean/Six Sigma tools and techniquesExperience managing projects across cross-functional teamsProven track record of consistently meeting goals and objectivesAdvanced proficiency in MS office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Mini-tabExpertise with 3D scanning technologies and measurement systemsAbility to support customers in the field as neededPosition is in Chattanooga, TN.
