Quality Assurance Specialist

The responsibility of the Quality Assurance Specialist is to perform day-to-day activities related to managing the Quality Assurance Program at Barry Callebaut, Chatham, Ontario, Canada. They must possess an in-depth knowledge of HACCP, food safety and quality management programs. They must be able to identify food safety risks in a food production environment, conduct and prioritize risk analysis, and work with production and management employees to drive root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions. They must be able to work independently, make decisions and effectively represent the quality department.


Key responsibilities include: 

Actively monitors and maintains QA-directed programs, ensuring compliance with quality standards. Tracks trends in QA programs and supports corrective actions to address issues. Updates procedures and provides employee training as needed. Supports the Environmental Testing Program's maintenance and execution. Conducts audits, including GMP, ISO, and sanitation, to ensure operational compliance. Prepares for and participates in third-party audits. Prepares and submits QA reports, including NCRs, GMP, ISO, and customer complaints. Collaborates with operations teams to investigate and resolve quality and food safety issues. Conducts root cause analysis for customer complaints and ensures corrective actions are implemented and tracked. Manages QA-related KPIs, including tracking complaints, reviewing production records, and handling non-conformance issues.

 

About you:

College Diploma/University Degree with preference given to a Science discipline. Minimum of two years of experience in a food manufacturing environment. Certified PCQI is an asset. Experience with FSSC 22000 is an asset. High degree of computer literacy with excellent written and oral communication skills. SAP experience is an asset.
