Summary
The primary function of the Quality Assurance Technician is to administer the Calibration process, which includes all measurement and test equipment (M&TE) used at Formsprag. This position is responsible for the efficient collection of M&TE, performing internal calibration, and record keeping of calibration activity. External calibration services are used for MT&E that are too complex for internal calibration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with AS9100 Quality Management System requirements.
To direct all activities involved with the calibration process.
Maintain database of 2,500+ M&TE entries.
Maintain calibration schedule in QMS database, ensure M&TE items do not go past due.
Retrieve M&TE prior to calibration due dates, issue temporary replacements.
Perform internal calibration on MT&E
Procure calibration services from approved suppliers, when necessary
Generate purchase orders.
Coordinate with Inspection Supervisor to arrange for use of CMM.
Create and maintain records for M&TE in the QMS Database.
Update calibration labels and release M&TE to the shop floor.
Coordinate with production to minimize gaps when M&TE needs to be calibrated.
Resolve "out-of-tolerance" M&TE issues by completion of risk evaluation forms.
Administration of Quality vision program, scheduling employees to visit Eye Specialist.
Host external calibration service technicians.
Obtain quotes and coordinate repair of M&TE as needed.
Provide support preparing for and undergoing AS9100 and Aerospace customer audits.
Maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL) by collecting information from suppliers.
Help maintain data archives of Quality and Production records. Other Administrative Activities
Perform clerical and administrative duties as needed
Critical Competencies
Ability to perform calibration on common hand gages (excluding repairs)
Ability to understand and follow work instructions
Experience with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and general computer acumen
Strong communication skills
Must be able to perform with self-direction
Education and Experience Requirements
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
A valid license, a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a chauffer’s license/DOT Card is required
Experience calibrating hand gages (Micrometers, Calipers, Bore Gages Dial Indicators)
Basic computer skills required
Work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Experience with SAP or an ERP preferred
Physical Demand and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
Use of hand tools and the ability to use material handling devices
Must be able to sit / stand as necessary in the work area
