Quality Assurance Technician (Temporary)

This is a temporary position for 3-6 months. 

 

We are presently seeking a Quality Assurance Technican whose primary responsibility is to assure the expected outputs of the process are being met by qualifying the product to its specifications. QA Technicians are mobile support personnel who qualify product at the source of manufacture or in laboratories designed for testing purposes.

 

Main Responsibilities: 

Perform visual inspections for optics surface quality in accordance with specifications and standardized procedures. Perform dimensional inspections using hand-held measurement instruments and/or automated or programmable measurement equipment. Performs measurement and inspection on complex optics and optical assemblies using standardized methods and non-traditional methods and equipment, as instructed. This includes any necessary setup. Reads and understands drawings in order to determine specifications Reads and follows process sheets, prints, coating scans, interferometer scans, and material certs. Completes First Article Inspections with little assistance. Identification of improvements in processes, such as reduction of handling, measuring, storing, etc. and communicating those ideas to the Sustaining/Quality Engineering team. Takes initiative to get drawings or process sheets corrected, where applicable. Supportive of Process Engineering by conducting Tests of the Day (TOD), specific data collection while working towards validating the reduction of inspections and metrology measurements. Generates non-conforming materials reports and communicates with Engineering. Provides guidance, coaching, and training to Level I QA Technicians, and develops Manufacturing Technicians to conduct self-qualification. Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED is required Associates degree preferred Knowledge and understanding of moderate to complex math calculations a plus. Familiarity with Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5) and ability to read and understand technical specifications and standards used in the optics industry. 3+ years of experience in a quality assurance , quality control or inspector position in a manufacturing environment.

Pay Range: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour, depending on experience.

 

Our facility in Boulder, Colorado has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines. This facility specializes in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense.
