You ensure quality in the factory and are responsible for meeting quality targets. You are fully responsible for the people, machinery and the identification and elimination of quality losses and problems in the department. You grow your team’s capabilities and coordinates departmental activities in accordance with corporate standards, local requirements and ISO standards. In this role, you report directly to the plant manager with dotted line responsibility to corporate quality.
How you will contribute
You will ensure that all quality objectives, goals and targets in the factory (including regional and global commitments) are met. You will develop and track your department’s budget and eliminate losses. With your team, you will conduct regular plan-do-act-check assessments to plan how targets will be met, executing the plan and periodically checking and taking action to stay on track. In addition, you will ensure that there is strict adherence with all appropriate laws, food safety quality standards and consumer requirements of all manufactured products and manage crisis situations internally and externally in ways that support the company’s image, policies and business. As a people leader, you are responsible for recruitment and structuring of the department to ensure there are sufficient resources to deliver on plant objectives, set and assess performance goals, and coach and mentor team members.

This position will ultimately provide support to manufacturing services and assist with achieving the specific Quality Mondelez objectives of the organization. You will be responsible for the implementation, facilitation and maintenance of all Quality programs and processes at the Mondelez Manufacturing unit thereby ensuring safety and quality of all products while balancing the need for production.

Develop and review Quality procedures to align with MDLZ Quality Policy, ISO9001, SANS1841, FSSC22000 and other Global requirementsCascade to manufacturing new or revised Quality Policy, Specifications, and strategies, identified gaps and drives implementation of corrective actions to ensure compliance to standards.Monitor compliance of the Plant to Mondelez International, ISO9001, SANS1841, FSSC22000 standards through the conduct of Internal Audit. Check implementation effectiveness, identifies gaps, taking corrective actions, recommends closure of non-conformances and provides recommendation for improvement. Coordinate completion of Quality related audits from internal and external parties within all relevant departments. This includes ensuring closure of all identified non- conformances.Lead the HACCP program at the Port Elizabeth siteRepresent the PE plant in all areas of HACCP plan design, implementation and effectivenessMaintain and control the QCMS documentations in Plant (e.g. HACCP Plans, QP, Quality Plans, Procedures and Work Instructions, Reference Standards, etc.) Provide assistance in the preparation and conduct of the Management Review to appraise management of quality status.Conduct periodic Quality systems training on Quality System procedures and other QCMS related training requirements.Conduct verification on compliance of Plant Operations records to established procedures on records identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposalMaintain CAPA program as a central pool of corrective/preventive action, and ensuring the completion of defined action.Drive risk management and continuous products/process quality and sanitation improvement activitiesAny other duties as assigned by the Quality ManagerEducation / Certifications:
National Diploma in Quality management and Food Hygiene or related fields. Working knowledge of quality management systems.Sound Knowledge of FMCG environment ISO 14001, ISO 22000, PAS220 and OHSAS 18001 management systems knowledge and auditing.At least 3-5 years supervisory level with direct reports. Working knowledge of ISO based system implementation and management.Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, project management, pro-activeness, good decision-making and change management are also essential to the performance of this position.
