This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of general labor, custodial staff, and the floor crew. This position also leads coordination of temporary labor for all Facilities Management custodial teams and the contracting of supplemental cleaning services for academic and research buildings. Additionally, this position provides project support such as updating floor plans, document reviews, updating quality control databases and SDS records, and specialized report creation and implementation as requested. The Specialist will also be responsible to fulfill a role as second line emergency support for the custodial team. The mission of the department is to provide a safe physical environment that promotes the advancement and transfer of knowledge. **What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be** **Supervision** + Supervise and manage the floor crew as well as several General Labor I, General Labor II, and Custodian I positions. + Complete position descriptions and performance management plans for 8 direct reports and approximately 11 indirect reports. + Develop, implement, evaluate and refine programs and work processes for cleaning, snow removal and emergency response cleaning. + Perform initial emergency assessment and first response duties as needed. **Special Projects** + Apply standing order contractor process for securing temporary laborers. + Manage hiring, assignments, timecards and coordination of temporary staff with outside agencies. + Campus Building Services (CBS) onboarding liaison - work with Infrastructure & Resilience (I&R) HR prior to employee's start date to set up Buffcard, keys, workwear, building access, and facilitate onboarding training. + Review all construction documents on behalf of Custodial Services to ensure custodial building standards as well as the needs of the department and staff are being met. This will require meeting with project managers and other affiliated groups as needed. + Work with the CBS Program Assistant to audit and update cleaning task frequencies on building floor plans for each custodial team. + Manage departmental quality control program and provide recommendations for continuous improvement within program. This includes working with team supervisors to complete cleaning inspections. **Supplemental Cleaning Program** + Provide cost estimates and coordinate supplemental cleaning projects across the campus in buildings served by Facilities Operations. This may include projects such as exterior and interior window cleaning and steam cleaning. **Training and Committee Participation** + Assist and maintain all CBS training and course work required by the department. + Work with the Training Coordinator to develop and update tools for Supervisors and Leads to upgrade and enhance their leadership and communication skills. + Assure staff are following applicable safety regulations and policies. This will include coordinating large scale trainings. + Participate in various committees and advisory groups including but not limited to: I&R information systems, work management, customer service, and safety. **Snow and Ice Removal** + Assist in the removal of snow and ice as necessary from walks and stairs to provide safe passage for campus customers. **What You Should Know** This in-person positions anticipated work schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00am - 6:30pm.
