Quality Control Asphalt Lab Technician

Requirements:
+ 5 years with INDOT Certification preferred.
+ Experience working in an asphalt paving plant lab preferred
+ High School Diploma or GED preferred.
+ Must be at least 18 years of age.
+ Dependable transportation to and from work.
+ No felonies that are violent in nature and/or theft related in the last 7 years.
+ Comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
Essential Functions:
+ Observe safe work practices at all times.
+ Schedule 6:00 am to 6:00pm, typically 8 hour work day (possible nights and weekends) with overtime/travel possible.
+ Follow quality control guidelines and industry approved standards in preparing and testing samples.
+ Operate drills and/or dosing machines at the asphalt plants.
+ Study and pass tests to obtain state D.O.T., county, city, etc. certifications as needed
+ Evaluate and analyze test results and take corrective action when needed.
+ Have some experience in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
+ Assist in general maintenance and calibration of all laboratory and road equipment.
+ Collect samples from existing roads, quarries, and plant locations for evaluation .
+ Use shovels, core drills, large circular saws, density gauges or any other light to heavy duty equipment necessary for collecting samples.
+ Be able to pass D.O.T. physical with a clean driving record in order to use a company truck.
+ Employee must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization about the lab, its components, needs, issues, and any enhancements that will provide additional efficiency gains. Must have the ability to provide accurate and timely information about the lab’s daily operations, results and corrective measures taken. Must be pro-active in troubleshooting, and maintain the work environment without a compromise to any required regulations, quality of work or safe work practices.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. At times, this position is performed in outside weather conditions
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to use proper personal protection equipment. Use of sunscreen and long sleeves is recommended.
