What you will be doing
Works with inbound receiving, warehouse operation and procurement teams completing quality and spec inspections for all inbound shipments of Produce and Floral, as well as inspecting product stored in the DC.
This position is based in Denver, CO.
Main responsibilities
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Inspect produce and floral items per Standard Operating Procedures for compliance with Albertsons/Safeway specifications. Works with the warehouse operations team in many areas to ensure procurement and operations functionality are maintained in slotting, inbound schedules, and product rotation. Coordinate with the buying team on new standards and procedures when performing inspections on condition, short weight, transit damage, grade, temperature and other reasons. Maintains necessary rejection records and temperature records as needed. Enter Quality data into database and complete other documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Work with warehouse personnel to answer any questions with regard to product quality, packs or proper temperatures. Work to resolve receiving issues in terms of quality of product as well as quantity on a timely basis to allow proper warehouse receiving. Assist in the coordination of perishable item recall/withdrawal events with inventory control Use and maintain analytical tools. Inform buyers on product quality as necessary. Prepares warehouse condition reports as requested. Assist in banana ripening. May organize shipping schedule for all items having different degrees of maturity. Gives shipping instructions to assembly via warehouse supervision and QC Lead Determines cause of warehouse shrink due to spoilage. Makes recommendations to management regarding reduction in shrink. Maintains logs and records of spoilage, including information on overbuying, lack of retail performance, weak produce, etc. Prepares monthly and quarterly recaps for review by management. Ensures that appropriate personnel are trained in the proper handling, storage, rotation, and selection of produce to be shipped to the retail units. Willing to adjust schedule as needed (Day off requests, Vacation coverage, Weekend coverage)The base rate is $26.00 to $30.00 per hour paid on a weekly basis. What we are searching for
Required Experiences and Characteristics
4-year college degree in food science/agribusiness or equivalent related industry experience. Retail produce and floral knowledge USDA/CFIA Inspection experience helpful USDA Specifications and grading knowledge helpful HACCP Certification Warehouse supply chain and/or receiving experience. Fresh produce or floral growing, packing and/or harvesting. Good management skills and ability to relate with diverse workforce. Reading, writing, math, and communication skills at a proficient level Ability to follow verbal or written instructions. Keyboarding proficiency. Computer skills: Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel. Be detail oriented, ability to be organized, and strong analytical skills. Ability to differentiate between colors. Ability to work in 34 to 38 degree temperatures for extended periods of time. Ability to lift/move boxes up to 75 lbs. and up to 6 feet high.Physical Environment
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal. Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
