Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:
Performs diversified inspection duties including measuring, testing, and visual verification of chemicals, textile raw materials and subassemblies, labeling and packaging materials, and packaging of subassemblies for conformance to specifications. Reviews device history records and associated documentation in preparation of lot release shipping to BPR. Performs environmental monitoring.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs independent incoming, in-process, and final inspection of textile raw materials and subassemblies including yarns, fabrics, and tubular fabrics to determine/ensure compliance to specifications.
Inspects product labeling and packaging.
Documents results of inspections.
Prepares test samples for fiber ID testing of incoming raw materials.
Operates test equipment including, but not limited to, Thickness Gages, Balance/Scales, Skein Winders, Mullen Burst Testers, MTS Tensile Testers, Rulers, and Laser Micrometer.
Maintains receiving inspection, work in process and finished product DHR records.
Reviews lot history folders for final lot release sign off.
JDE data entry
Assists in writing inspection and test procedures and other documents relevant to incoming/receiving inspection, work in process, finished product and Lot Release.
Maintains work area and equipment in clean, safe and orderly condition.
Participates in safety and GxP assessments.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to successfully work in a team-oriented environment
Ability to make sound decisions regarding product quality versus specification.
Ability to perform basic math functions/formulas, use conversion charts, and understanding of basic statistics and significant digits.
Ability to use linear measuring devices, dial indicators, tensile testers, balances/scales, stitch counters and yarn testers.
Knowledge of Microsoft applications (ex. MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
Knowledge of AQL sampling plans.
Education/Experience:
High School Graduate with at least 3 years experience in a production facility or quality control laboratory.
Experience in a GMP/ISO or Mil Spec environment preferred.
Experience with textiles a plus.
ASQ certification a plus.
Physical Demands:
Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at inspection stations, bending/squatting and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 50 lbs).
Ability to handle monofilament and multifilament yarn.
Dexterity to handle small items for inspections as braided and tubular knitted subassemblies (ranging from 2mm in diameter).
Work Environment:
May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing and testing processes.
