Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Electrical/Quality Control Manager to oversee quality control operations on a federal construction project. The ideal candidate will have federal government contracting experience across diverse project types, including new construction, design-build, and building renovations. This role requires on-site presence during all physical work activities and involves managing the QC process to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
ResponsibilitiesMechanical Inspections: Inspect mechanical system installations to ensure compliance with project specifications.Electrical Inspections: Inspect electrical system installations to ensure compliance with project specifications.Lead quality control initiatives, reviews, and corrective actions.Review and enforce compliance with project specifications through documentation, inspections, and approval processes.Review and track shop drawings, material submittals, and RFIs.Maintain detailed records, including submittal logs, daily reports, inspection logs, and test results.Conduct weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and team.Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure project quality.Oversee testing, commissioning of systems, and resolution of non-conformance issues.Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for all project phases.Document and resolve punch list items for final inspection.Assemble project closeout documents, including as-builts, O&M manuals, and warranties.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years as a Mechanical/QC Manager for a contractor OR at least 5 years of combined experience in roles such as Project Superintendent, QC Manager, Project Manager, or Project Engineer on similar federal projects.Experience with NAVFAC/USACE Construction Quality Management practices.Current Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors certificate.Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with BIM coordination.Thorough understanding of federal construction laws, building codes, and industry standards.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to solve problems and manage paperwork efficiently.Valid driver’s license.Additional Skills & Qualifications30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Course (preferred).First Aid and CPR (preferred).SCIF construction experience is a major plus.Strong MEP knowledge base.Work Environment
The position involves working on a federal base new construction project building a 15k sq ft facility. It is a salaried position offering holiday and vacation pay. A stipend for accommodation and a daily per diem are provided. The work environment requires on-site presence during all physical work activities, and the role includes coordination with various stakeholders to ensure project quality. The client has a long-term backlog of projects on the same site, offering potential for direct long-term employment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
