To assist with duties providing support to quality control supervisor and to production personnel in keeping all production and receiving areas clean by cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, and maintaining the areas in accordance with approved quality and sanitation procedures and to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s). To inspect and test raw materials and finished product in compliance with established requirements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Education: High school diploma or GED required. Post high school education in chemistry, food sciences or related preferred.
Experience: Food/Feed manufacturing sanitation experience preferred. Chemistry or microbiology lab experience preferred. Experience in feed or food industries preferred.

Sanitation
100% adherence to all company established chemical, safety and cleaning policies and procedures.
Execute sanitation schedule: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Semi-Annual and Annual.
Responsible for maintaining a clean plant, inside and out.
Able to use industrial cleaning chemicals and understand chemical safety and chemical handling procedures.
Sanitize and clean machines and machine parts using chemicals, high pressure hoses, spraying and scrubbing.
Follow a specific sanitizing process.
Reassemble machines as necessary.
Trash and recycling removal.
Sanitize plant floors, drains, walls, and shelves.
Perform record keeping and data tracking; responsible for completing the plant’s Master Sanitation Schedule.
Continuously improve the sanitation process.
Sanitation Technicians will cover each other in the absence of a Sanitation Technician or qualified personnel.
Lab
Perform the inspection and testing of raw materials to assure vendor compliance with specifications and established procedures.
Inspect, test, and monitor current production in accordance with established procedures to assure compliance to required specifications; report findings to Quality Control Supervisor for needed changes or adjustments.
Follow lab standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and methods.
Interpret data as it pertains to quality assurance specifications.
Places non-conforming production on a “hold” status and follows through with retesting when needed.
Performs technical operations such as taking and/or shipping samples, examining/analyzing product, recording results and taking appropriate action in accordance with established procedures.
Cleans, maintains, and sanitizes all equipment used in the quality control area according to established sanitary rules, regulations, and maintenance/calibration procedures.
Basic cleaning of the lab including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning the counters.
Inputting analytical data for raw materials, in process, and finished goods into the computerized lab management system.
Assists the Quality Control Supervisor on other quality assurance activities as needed such as corrective action investigation.
As a member of the quality control team, shares responsibility for assuring the products manufactured at APC are safe and meet the customer’s quality standards.
In the absence of the Quality Control Lab Technician, the Quality Control Supervisor or other qualified personnel will cover the duties of the role.

Ability to learn, understand and implement a wide variety of processing methods to assure compliance with established sanitation and processing procedures.
Ability to learn testing methods, including instrumentation testing for protein, moisture, color, ash, and sediment.
Ability to accurately and legibly record a variety of data, including testing data.
Knowledge, skill and ability to operate routine lab equipment.
Ability to effectively communicate complex information, both orally and in writing.
