Your Role:

At MilliporeSigma, the Quality Control Scientist 2 is responsible for conducting chemical analyses using various techniques and instruments, including GC, HPLC, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer titrator, and LC-MS. This role involves both independent and collaborative problem-solving based on sound analytical chemistry principles and practices. In addition to daily laboratory tasks, the QC Scientist II supports production, quality, and technical service operations. This includes serving as a resource for analytical functions and testing related to process evaluations, troubleshooting, incoming raw material analysis, and process and final product testing. The position also entails administrative duties such as project leadership, SAP and LIMS maintenance, and assisting in the development of strategic initiatives for laboratory management systems.  Job duties include:

 

Conduct routine wet chemistry analyses (e.g., titrations) and instrumental analyses (GC, HPLC, UV-VIS, Auto-titrators, LC-MS, GC-MS) to support high-purity solvent and solution production.Prepare chemical solutions for use in calibration and analysisPerform calculations per standard operating procedures.Organize and comply with raw and refined data for clear communication.Conduct routine equipment maintenance and manage laboratory supply levels.Order supplies from vendors and effectively organize daily activities to achieve results.Organize daily activities effectively and efficiently to achieve expected resultsEnsure compliance with safety procedures and participate in safety meetings.Maintain high housekeeping standards and good laboratory practices.Perform analytical testing and method development for production and quality investigations.Support SAP, LIMS, and SQC administration functions.Collaborate with interdepartmental teams to meet objectives and gather necessary information.Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, meeting schedules and commitments.Meets agreed to schedules and commitmentsSupervise and support departmental resources, participating in future planning and project objectives.Lead interdepartmental team activities and drive continuous improvement for cost reduction in production processes and products.

 

Who You Are

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other life science disciplines 3+ years’ experience working in a QC laboratory3+ years’ experience with analytical laboratory tools including but not limited to KF titrator, HPLC, GC, pH meters, and UV-Vis

OR

Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or other life science disciplines5+ years’ experience working in Chemistry Lab5+ years’ experience working in a QC laboratory5+ years’ experience with analytical laboratory tools including but not limited to KF titrator, HPLC, GC, pH meters, and UV-Vis

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and proactive.Knowledge of chemical analyses and processesProficient in computer skills, including scientific instrument software (OpenLab, Empower) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsFamiliarity with ISO 9001, GMP, and Responsible Care standards.Proficient in LabVantage LIMS software.Knowledgeable in environmental testing requirements and processes.
